Lydia Brody studied art in Jerusalem; she then moved to Paris in 1967, where she continued her studies in the department of visual arts at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Her professional life began as a graphic artist and illustrator of childrens' books. The illustrations for the book "My hand wasn't big enough" (published by Masada Press) won a best illustration prize at the Frankfurt, Germany book fair in 1978. Lydia subsequently started exhibiting her drawings, both in pencil and in oil pastels, in Paris. She has exhibited as well in Los Angeles, Buffalo, N.Y., and Boulder, Colorado, where she lives and works presently.

Lydia has travelled extensively, sketching and drawing in cafes, restaurants, and theatres. She has drawn many scenes of Paris night life, both real and imagined. In addition to these scenes, she has drawn a large series of pictures depicting ocean voyages. Her unique sense of light and color has contributed to the popularity of this series, which count among her most demanded works.

Lydia is living in Boulder for the last 8 years, and has participated in the open studio annual event. She is working and showing her work here and abroad. You can enjoy her work at Jilašs design on Broadway in Boulder
